Career Bio
Born and raised in Moshav Nahalal, Smadar is third generation of family of farmers. Married and mother of three.
Smadar started her professional career as a graphic artist and book illustrator. She has been painting for nearly 30 years, utilizing a large variety of techniques including oil, watercolor, pastel and drawing.
Among Smadar's favorite subjects are portraits, male and female nudes, and landscapes. She paints outdoors villages, fields, forests and rivers in Israel and Europe.
Smadar also specializes in commissioned traditional portraits.
Smadar Painting Center
Founder and director of a private school of professional painting in Tel Aviv, Smadar has taught thousands of art students. Her courses enable people who have never painted before to paint portraits and human figures in a short time.
She lectures on creativity and art, and the way creativity influences the everyday life.
Smadar is active for the sake of improving the quality of Israeli painting. She has published several essays on figurative versus conceptual art, and on the illnesses of post-modern art in Israel.
